I created this site so that I have a medium for my thoughts on social issues and a place to write down what I think should be done in any particular circumstance I stumble upon as I live my life.
It's therapeutic for me and brings my writing and narrative skills nourishment. My life is centered around solving difficult problems in computer systems so I don't often allow myself the time to explore the other side of the coin and navigate equally complex social issues.
I do not enjoy the big picture conversations most commonly found on the internet as by its nature a big picture is the highest abstraction and without the most detail. In my life I have chosen to live in the details.
Big picture conversations have a place and strategy or vision is critically important to the execution of a task but in today's world those conversations are wielded not by people who understand that complexity but those that just want to do the easy parts. The parts that don't require them to labour intensively on a problem.
I say this because in order to understand what I'm saying you have to consider where I'm aiming. I of course have general opinions on social issues but I will almost never talk about social issues in that framing. I am interested in what work needs to be done on the ground and in the dirt.
I would not recommend using what I write as informative information for your own decision making. I would recommend you use it to find motivation to do more work.
Most importantly of all. This site is an outlet for me to be naive and get things wrong so that I can learn and get them right.
Core to me:
- Spend most of my time studying.
- Be strong and lend that strength to others.
- Understand how something works before anything else.
- Empathy must be a part of every conclusion.
- Make the most of your time. Don't hold yourself back
- Change and change again. Keep changing.
